Some questions from a n00b

Hi i'm a new member here and i know almost nothing about car audio so i was hoping some of you guys could help me!!

I just got Infinity Kappa 60.9cs components for the front, Infinity Reference 6022si for the rears, and an Infinity Reference 5350a 5-channel amp. These were all gifts. Oh and i already have an Alpine 9856 head unit installed.

Would these all fit my 2004 Civic SiR? And I want to get a subwoofer to finish the system, but i have no idea where to start looking

The amp specs say 150W at 4 ohms and 300W at 2 ohms. I'm guessing it would depend on how the system is wired, but i'm still lost!!!

Any guidance from you guys is gonna be really appreciated!!! I can't wait to finally get this system installed!!

Oh and what do you guys think of these parts so far? I don't really know much about Infinity so I'm hoping these are sound good!

Good equipment, solid company that's owned by Harman International (they own JBL, harman kardon, crown pro sound, and a number of others), and they've been around for a long time. I had the 60.7's before and liked them a lot. Loud and clean, very good midrange and highs, a little lacking in midbass though. You should have no problems fitting them in your civic, as it's stock sizes are 6.5". As far as subwoofers to match your amp's 2 ohm output...get an Infinity kappa 12" or Perfect 12". They are very good sounding subs and handle around 300 watts rms.

ummm sell the rears... use them to help fund your sub, car audio sells fast on craigslist around the lower mainland, run the amp in three channel mode get a lower power sub as the amp will only provide 300RMS at 2 ohm on the sub channel, look for a sub rated around 200-400RMS then get either dual 4ohm, dual 1ohm, or a single 2ohm voice coil.

your Honda has 6.5" speakers in the front doors stock, so the mids from the component set will fit perfectly, you may need a spacer plate depending on depth but they should go strait in, then just pick a spot up high for the tweeters, around the A-pillar.

damn veeman.. hahaha im running around finding specs and stock speaker sizes and bam you post! ghahahaha

sorry Jo..lol! With regards to the rears, if you don't want rear fill (sound) or don't have passengers in the back too often, then it's not a bad idea to sell them. You should try your system with rear speakers on and off to determine if you like rear fill or not. I personally don't like systems without rear sound...lacks ambiance, doesn't get as loud given the same system with and without rears (at least in the mids and highs), and my passengers really hate it when the tunes aren't back there. That may or may not be an issue, but I can tell you that they don't say good things about your system to other friends. Given that you probably want to impress them at least a little bit, it' may not be a bad idea to keep them. If you don't like rear sound, fade it to the front. By the way that amp isn't designed to run those 2 ohm components in bridged 3 channel mode as it's only stable to 4 ohms bridged (although it probably would).

yeah what he said! hahahah and i do agree with the rear. just thinking if its a hatch then you shouldnt be hard up for rear sound, i know even in my car when i didnt have rears you could still here pretty good when in the back seats, though i now have rear just for some more mid bass
