I'm going to install a new system within the next couple weeks and I wanted to know if I should put dynamat on my front doors. I heard that it improves mid bass but my speakers have excellent mid bass as it is. Is there any other reason why I should get this?

 

Yes, your doors are big metal gongs. Energy that you should be hearing in the form of sound instead is being used to vibrate and resonate the sheet metal in the doors. This is a loss of primarily bass response from the speaker. As a side benefit is also aids in keeping the road noise down as well. So that would be a yes, get some sound deadening in the doors as well. Newtons 3rd law at work, in your door.

It is easy to do IF you do it on a warm day and you have some time, a olfa knife and clean the metal so that it adheres easily. It is literally peel and stick for the most part. It cut very easy and can be put in in small peices. Do as much of the door panel as you can, the trunk area as well. It comes in roll format up to 50sq.ft. for the good stuff and is way cheaper buying it this way as compared to running into Future Shop and buying a trunk or door kit for example.

 

How warm is a ideal condition? Theres not going to be any more warms day where I live until the spring, so the best thing I could do is put my car in my garage when I do the install. Also, approximately how many hours will this take if I do the front two doors?

 

Heat the garage up, leave the car in there overnight. You can also use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm up the material as well. This will make it far easier to apply. Give yourself a couple of hours minimum to do this project. Take the doors apart right away the night before if you like.
