Is speaker wire the same thing as power wire???,,would like to use it for speakers

IS speaker wire the same thing as power wire...or is there some difference? Reason being, I would love to use some of my extra phoenix gold 8 guage power wire that I have sitting around from my monoblock amp to my subs.

Yes they are different. I believe that they both have different resistance. The speaker has more than the power.

Power wire will be fine. Copper is copper.

Well I think 8 is gonna be overkill for my application...so I am just gonna be cheap for now and stick with the 12 gauge.
