Is SQ competitions Dead?
#7
TYPICALLY the key to having an event is:
1) someone wants to have an event
after that it is easy, now you just need
2) a sponsor (buys trophies and promotes)
It is the sponsor who arranges for:
3) the event coordinator (he has locally generated rules or possible IASCA/ USACi/ MECA sanctioning (rules and judges))
Now all you need is a location and competitors. There is more ... and the order can be somewhat more random but each step must happen one way or another.
SQ is not dead...
easy eh
Why aren't there shows... well the sponsor must be motivated, what motivates a fellow to spend $... the opportunity to make more $$. There is either too little money to be made (poor attendance) OR he is unaware there is money to be made. I feel those who put on shows should be rewarded for it, support those who support you is my opinion.
And eBay is the natural enemy to SQ and SPL shows for this reason
