Audio upgrade fro a 3.5se 2003 with stock Panasonic head unit, do not want to swap the stock.

$200 for a wiring kit? Is that for just the amp or everything? N what gauge if so?? [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

 

Don't buy the Dynamat.
And don't buy the Plain Chant.
You can get far cheaper alternatives that will work almost as well, if not just as well. Unless, that is, you have that much money to burn.
In fact, you could probably get enough sound deadening to do most of your car for the price of those Dynamat door kits. Dynamat is a ripoff, in my opinion...

 

Yes I posted another quote regarding eclipse components.

The installer was doing a whole car with material from alberta at a fraction of the cost.

There are other materials out there.

Sounds a bit much for a door kit. Dump it, you can get a better deal on a roll of B-Quiet on our forum's Group Buy -- check out that section.

 

I am not sure what products are better than the Focal Plain Chants. I have heard the Cascade Deflex pads as well as the Dynamat version and the Focal Plain Chants still work the best. I agree that the differences are small and appreciated by good ears but what else is out there? Some sort of absorbsion/deflection is needed to eliminate the backwaves of the speaker from affecting the performance of the driver. What is the sense in getting a quality driver if you put it in a substandard instalation?

 

I agree Brian, you should see the sick stuff I'm doing to mount my 4" Utopia mids.

Back waves are an issue, and generally affect the midrange region causing voices to sound somewhat nassal.

Brain, is the Plain Chants similar to the original "Black Hole" material. I remember Kimon promoting that stuff back in '92.

The Black hole is different than the Plain Chants PEI330ci. The Chants are used directly behind the driver usually in the door. They are about 8" x 4" x 1". You would use 2 or 3 per driver. The Black hole is used mostly on the walls of a box. The Black Hole is expensive but if you want all of the music and nothing but the music, it helps a lot.

 

Accumat is great for the price.
