Stereo for Mazda 3 sport....Ideas??

hey all,

As the title shows, it's a mazda 3 sport, '05. Just got the car. I didn't really look at the trunk closely when it was at the dealership. today I took a look at what I had to work with and though,"oh boy, this might accually be tough. For those of you that don't know, to get the spare tire out the whole floor lifts up and out. I thought about making something that I can quickly unhook and pop out the back. But I thought that would be a pain in the butt, and I hate with a passion boring boxes just thrown in and strapped down.

Anyone have any ideas, links, suggestions....I want to put 2 12" subs, and a Big 5 channel amp in the back...it will be fiberglassed.

A couple things to think about, easy access to the spare tire, and the back seat will be folded down alot for the dog. Remember, I will be using fiber glass.

One other thing, anyone on here have experience running 2 strands of 0awg power wire threw the fire wall? I'm thinking I'm going to have to drill my own holes.

Thanks all

I'm not sure if it is the same on your vehicle as my Speed3, but there is a rubber grommet behind the glove box that would probably accommodate 2 0 gauge runs through it. I'm running 1 0 gauge wire through there for power.

This is all running off memory though.

As for ideas of what you could do... hinged mdf floor, pretty fiberglass on top? That is something that I was looking into doing so I can have access to my spare.

Yeah, I noticed that yesturday when I was looking under the hood. It looked to be right in that location, I was wondering if I could get at it from the interior side easily. Thanks for the tip, I'll look at it more today.

No problem and good luck.

In my speed 3, I just pulled the glove box out to make it easier. Pull the trim piece off (starting at the glove box and move towards the radio. The trim piece then slides out to the left as there is a hook on the right side of the trim panel). There should be 2 or 3 phillips holding the glove box in (located behind the removed trim panel). You should be able to pull the glove box out. You may want to remove your kick panel as well as your scuff plate.

Again, assuming the cars have the same interior build.

Haha. I don't think you want mine. I just threw a rod through the block doing 120km/h around 4500RPM (just about to shift).

I am currently fighting with Mazda for warranty coverage.

Really!? thats not even that high of RPM. Well, you can keep the motor, but if you would like to send the turbo my way....lol

Good luck with the warranty.
