hey, you can run the 500.1 @ 1ohm daily without harming your subs or having issues with dirty output. The 500.1 in my car runs at .5 daily and never goes protect, you must keep in mind your inpedance once you power the subs.

BTW, id definately choose the 500.1 over the stetsom "especially" for daily reliability.

Thanks for your personal experience. This is all good info and is much appreciated. I've heard a few AB amps now and know they get REAL LOUD. My ears hurt for awhile after I got out of Menaces Explorer. I can't believe that thing can be listened to daily. IT'S NUCKIN FUTS!!! then again he has 2. lol

500.1

u dont need to run it at 4 ohm, why?

1 ohm for daily is fine on the pair of those subs. you could do 1 amp at 1 ohm on each of those for daily.

So that it will balance with my highs better. I don't need to run the amp at low loads for nothing. I just want the power there when need be. Get around 3K at 4 ohms daily and wire it 1 or .25 at comps for max power. I've got 3 kids man, and like to hear my highs.

I must be missing some bad experiences with Stetsoms daily, lots of people seem to have bad things to say. I havent had a single issue daily with my 4k2d.

running that amp at 4ohm reactive load wont give you 3k, at 0.5 reactive you would see between 3-4k burps with 2 battery's so 1ohm would allow around 2500w continuous.

keep in mind that your head unit will have features like sub gain and other filters so you can dampen the output while not competing

x2

where the **** is all this bullsh!t coming from about stetsom amps blowing up? In yuli's thread stating "what SPL amp do you wish you had?" a good amount of people stated a stetsom, along side soundigital and catus sounds

there is nothing wrong with a stetsom amp really. The main issue is they need to be operated under specific conditions, ie; voltage and impedance. You need to decide which version of the amp to buy weather it be 12v or 16v, or 2ohm or 1ohm.

The 12v version for example, will possibly catch fire at any operating voltage over 15v, however they may play in these conditions for some time before calling it quits. If you want to choose a stetsom amp, you need to be very cautious and have strict control over your audio system.

On the other end, the americanbass amp "not the most efficient" street spl amp. This amp although somewhat inefficient, will operate flawlessly from 10v-18v and has a very reliable set of protetion circuits for over/under voltage and for speaker short "impedance". The AB amp also produces a clean output for being a high powered class-d "spl" amp.

as the owner of both the 500.1 and a stetsom amp, i think the 500.1 takes it when it comes to low load stability. Stetsoms power supplies tend to go up in smoke if driven too hard. On the daily application, both will work equally as well. Id give it to stetsom for power output tho. 500.1 is much more reliable, and the protection circuit is great, stetsom is compact and a powerhouse. Its really what fits your application best

Thanks guys, this is all good info. I forgot about Soundigital. They're nice amps.

AAAHHHH, DECISIONS!!! Too early to think right now. Going to look through the SD line too.

Edit: Does anyone have english specs on the SD5K and/or SD8K?
