Guys, a friend of mine bought 2 subs (concept 10")the ones middle class I think can't remmem ber... anyways we installed the speakers in the box and plugged them to 400watts fosgate punch amp,2 months later the wires connected to the push plugs on the frame snaped and we realized that they were to short for the suspension travel after speaking to the sales person we discovered (after purchase)that this was a regular problem on these models...now my friend connected an extra piece of wire to the speaker to make it longer and store told him that there was no problem that he cold leave like that for a while so the holidays would pas by and after he would send them for the warranty.BUT after 4 weeks the sub return not fixed and also they said to my friend well we never told you that you could extend the wires so the subs could work PROPERLY and that it wasn't gaurantied any more, but after spending 320$ on these 2 subs that don't work anymore they would give him 50$ rebate per sub that he would buy again.IS IT ME OR HE'S TRYING TO RIP US OFF?!!now we are trying to find a sub that can be driven by th fogate 5002 which gives 500w mono 4 ohms or 1000w mono 2 ohms it,s a stereo amp by the way

I would grab the salesperson who told you to extend the wires and explain it to his boss/store owner.

For future reference, with 99.9% of manufacturers out there, if you modify, tamper, attempt to fix, etc, yourself, you will void any and all warranty with the unit. If the sales person said to do it and it was okay, then I would say you have an issue with that sales person and the store/sales person should be able to do something to help you out.

No doubt, if these speakers are an older model, they are covered by a 3 year warranty from Concept and would have been replaced. As you modified them as directed from the salesperson, the onus is still on them to honour warranty. As Concept now has a new distributor, warranty has now changed to 2 years for any new product purchased. Head back into the store and have them replace them under warranty.

Now that you have this little tidbit of info, he is defitely running a scam on you. Making you buy new subs, giving you a rebate and keeping your old subs that he can get warrantied and sell for new again, sounds like a dealer that I would avoid in the future. Totally not cool.

BTW, Concept = 1 year over the counter exchange warranty in the first year from any authorized dealer. Dont' get bent over any more than you already have been.

Trust me I am correct. As of right now the warranty is two years parts and labour on any new Concept equipment since approx the beginning of December. Previous to that the old distributor (Aralex) provided the customers with 3 years warranty and over the counter exhange in the first year. When were your speakers purchased and what models are they?
