Sub For SQ/SPL?
#1
Didn't know where to put this since it's kinda both.
I'm looking for a 12" sub or maybe a pair of them that will give me the best SQ and SPL when I feel like being loud and drawing attention to myself.
What can you guys/gals suggest?
Also, it's going into a truck, thinking of putting them into a custom center console (hidden underneith) would this mess up the sound stage?

Difficult to give an appropriate answer without knowing how much power you will be running and how much airspace you can get.
Orion H2 can take tons of power and get very loud while retaining excellent SQ. Works in a smaller enclosure also so it is a definite choice for your application.

AVI SLS series of subs will fit your bill perfectly. comes in a 10 or a 12 and they require very little space to operate well. i had the 12 in my car for a while and it sounded very tight and precise but when i wanted to be a show off it would get stupidly loud but still sound good. check it out. www.avisound.com

I compete DBDrag & USACi and I do quite well with my Kicker Solobaric 12" L7. I am one of the louder SQ guys and one of the cleaner DBDrag guys. I am very pleased with my sound competition or not and I think thats the most important thing.
What sounds best to you? Test, test, test. Go to your local shop and see if they have subs preloaded into enclosures that you can take out to the parking lot and try in your truck. Listen to the music that you like.
I do this regularly for my clients at work because gauging the quality of sound and the SPL is difficult on the showroom floor.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Like I said going to run a center console which will be the sub encloser. Think I can squeeze 2 12s in there. It will be sealed. I haven't taken measurements though.
I'd love to fine some shop I can test some subs at but I don't know of any local that I can think of at least.
Whatta ya'll think of DD Audio 3512Ds?
