okay so right now i have some shitty wiring running from my subs to amp and i was wondering if i actualy went and spent some money on decent wire my subs would sound alot better.... they sound awful now

 

Unless your using something above 18 AWG or running a ton of power then upgrading your speaker wire won't make much of a difference. If you don't like your setup the first thing I would consider is the enclosure. Give the forum some more details about your setup so we have something to go on.

 

Agreed, sounds like an enclosure issue. or settings...

 

I just changed my speaker wire 2 days ago from some shitty hookup cheap wire to 12 gauge speaker wire and I didn't notice a thing by changing it. I think it is my box making it sound like crap too.

 

Actually, the smaller the wire you use the better. It's more efficient.............. and more efficient wire allows for tighter faster signal transmission which leads to tighter and faster bass response. I like to stripe out a single strand from a piece of CAT 5 or even phone cable............. that's the best stuff. Oh, and another trick is right before it enters the box.......... get a pencil and wrap the wire around the pencil making a coil. That with help further reduce any high frequency leak to the subs. Never can be too safe eh. Subs taking a kick from the high frequencies will destroy them in milliseconds.................. and yes, all the above........ I'm totally talking out of my azz !!
