Subs in the box?
#4
a buddy of mine has a truck with 10 12" subs. He doesnt exactly have it setup the best. Nothing was calculated to determine best box size/port size. Nor do i think he has them wired best for his amps, but it still gets quite loud. Not sure if your thinkin of something this extreme or not.
Are you looking for exterior or interior noise?

I too have done this job more than a couple of times. It is on the expensive side as now you have to ensure that the box is properly secured in the cargo area of the bed (making it harder to steal of course as well as keeping it from being a missile in a accident). Next up the box must be waterproofed, so resined and or a layer or two of glass, rhinolining inside and out, all surfaces need to be sealed 100%.
Done properly, the choice of subs and box can have dramatic effects on output levels. Cutting the metal out of the back of the cab and the box needs to be done properly so that the metal can be welded back in at a later date if necessary. So time and money is what it takes to do this job properly.

Ya thats what i was wondering about, was interior noise.. thats what i want.
Does it sound like the subs are still right behind you? Does it pound like a normal setup?
If i were going to do this I would be going BIG with it. Something like 2 2000 watt rms subs.

If you do it properly, it will absolutely thunder. You need a rubber expansion boot to couple the box to the cab, thus allowing for the bed to flex independent from the cab. This is found at a truck canopy store, it comes in a roll and can be cut to length.
