subwoofer slip ups!

A wise man once told me your not an installer until you have put a screw bit through a subwoofer!
how many times have anyone else done this?
I did it once was lucky it was on an nt10 but didn't fully penetrate the surround.

This is one of things you really don't want to admit to but since it always seems inevitable that you want to get the system done so you're out in the garage at 3am trying to screw in the last couple speakers and it happens.
Since I do everyone else's installs during the daylight hours, my past equipment that got surround venting;
Boston Acoustics ProSeries 12.4LF - was using hex-head bolts to mount and caused a tear with the socket driver.
Polk 6.5 coax's - screwdriver when putting them into custom made doorpanels I made.

That should explain it.
There was a smudge of some sort of goop on the cone, so I took acetone to it. I didn't realize it had a clear coat on it until it started eating it away. Oh well. It's only cosmetic. [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

I saw someone from my highschool do it right infront of me in the fall.... i was building a custom box for him and he was taking the subs out of his old box. Nothing a little clear nail polish on the back of te surround didn't fix [img]smile.gif[/img]

That looks like either a TiPro 15 or the Ti 12.
Nice going [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img] we all do it though. A genius friend of mine wrecked his Xmax 15 when he decided to hold his nails up to the cone. He said "hey man listen to this!" and it made a neat-o tapping sound for awhile and then suddenly a huge piece of the cone collasped.

When i screw in speakers i use robbie screws and a screw driver. I find that i have more control with a screwdriver. HELL i would rather have a sore wrist from hand screwing 8 screws than to have a messed up driver!
