subwoofer slip ups!

Robertson screws are 1000% better than phillips, the only reason that robertson screws aren't the world standard is that Mr robertson (the guy who invented them) got screwed over in a trade dispute with the US, so they bought the patent rights to them for everywhere but canada (I think, or it may just be for the US)
You can get about 3 times more torque onto a robertson screw than onto a phillips head screw, and they stay on the screwdriver, or screw bit an awful lot better than that american phillips crap.
The best robertson Head screwdriver that I've ever used was made by Mr robertson himself. (My grandpa had a set because he was a salesman for robertson) still works great, and the head still fits into a standard red robby screw.
anyways, enough for that rant
I put a screwdriver through the surround of my power acoustik FUBR, but nothing that a little ABS solvent couldn't mend.
too bad I couldn't fix the fact that that thing SUCKS in a sealed box

When i used to build car audio displays we sent them all over. The worst was if we sent out any displays with robbies they were no good! So instead of turning to phillips we sent robbie drivers with some of the displays. Leave it to a canadian to make the best bit ever! Way to go canada!

Yup, I agree with the robbie screws, the bit and the screw stay together much better, and if you slip, it is not as much of a sharp point as a phillips.
I am also with D-50 truck - to a point. I start the screws with a screw driver, and once they have bitten into the wood and I know they are not going to veer off, I get the drill.
No screw-ups . . . yet.
Late night screw ups I have done: Trying to adjust a crossover from 120hz LP to 80hz LP I flipped the wrong switch. I flipped the Stereo-bridged switch. Amp played really loud for a few seconds, then went into protection after setting a woofer on fire. I guess that happens with a Legacy Amp and a Jensen Woofer
Before I got married, I wanted to give my wife's stereo 'more power' by running an aux. amp. off of it. Her wtereo had nice features but weak power 15x2 WRMS. And I had an amp with no features but 75x2 WRMS, so I was going to have the other amp turn-on via a 12vdc relay. 3 a.m. I found 12vdc point I needed and began soldering the connection. The iron slipped and I soldered to other points together. Normally not a big problem, but I accidently left the unit plugged in - 'POP' and the magic smoke came out. Luckily I only blew the 12V regulator - $35 later everything worked the way I wanted it to.

Now that we are on the topic of robertson screws. I want someone to make robbie self-tapping screws. The most usless screw in the world is the philips self-taps! USELESS! Especialy trying to mount a alarm siren in the very depths of the engine bay. They DO NOT stay on the bit and WONT start out straigh unless you have your fingers pinch on the screw.
IMO robbie self-taps would be the BEST product ever made for alarm installation!!
PS I just finished installing an alarm, thats why i am soo pissed!

Bumpin' Nova, that is a first release 15" Ti, the 88150Ti. Remember, it's a cosmetic problem and doesn't make the sub perform any different. I hit a 143.2 at 40Hz last season, after all.

I've never punctured a cone with a tool before, but I had a case of beer in the trunk once, and took a sharp corner, the corner of the box managed to jam up into my old JL 10w3. It put a dent in the cone, but it still worked okay.
That was a while ago. Now, I never put anything in my trunk (if I have any components there), it all goes in the back seat

D50: they do make robertson self tappers, I have about 400 here at home (I even have some 3" long, 1/4" diameter suckers that we use for drilling into I-beams and structural steel. with a black robertson head) but 3/4"X10 self tappers are really common.
