Yup, nothing like watching a Kicker L7 smoke itself to death and catch on fire.

it's how you break in DD's.....L7's don't seem to cool that much at 60hz. My old boss's Cerwin Vega Stroker is still going aftr 10 years of wall-socket demos

Depends..it's alot easier with a wall socket that's on a lighswitch. Otherwise just use a power bar with a switch so you can turn it off. AND not have to work with a live wire.

Ah, the good ol' speaker rolling. Funny thing was when I was getting my Inhuman 15" voicecoil changed from Copper to Aluminum (Less Power handling but more efficient) the dbDon who built the sub tried to roll it. 1ohm out of the wall socket, and he couldn't get it to blow it. Mostly because it was still not broken in but what can I say, i'm a gentle guy.

We had a competition with 3 subs to see which one would last the longest. A mid grade Sony Xplod, A mid grade Pioneer champion series and a low grade Digital Designs 1510.

Pioneer: 7 seconds
Sony: 16 seconds
DD: 1:47 seconds

Pretty impressive from a sub thats only supposed to handle 450 watts.
