SVC 4 ohm into 6 ohm for HT?

Receiver is a Sony 600W with 100W to the sub, on the back of the sub is says 6 ohms. I've got an Eclipse SW8200 that is SVC 4 ohm that I want to use. It doesn't say on google, is there no SVC 6 ohm or is it 3+3 DVC? Can I wire the Eclipse at 100w or 50w? There are no RCA's for the sub, just tiny wires. It's a Sony SS-WMSP80, thanks.

That Sony receiver will just choke if you hook the SW8200 to it...

That's what I thought. I guess I can't get a plate amp because there are no RCA's?

I'm pretty sure there are plate amps that have high level inputs. Can't remember what brand I saw it on though. It might have been outputs...

most of the plate amp will have high level in/out(highpass) but if you plan to use one with the Sony you will need to use the sub-out from the receiver and not the front speaker since they might have add a permanent highpass to protect them.

You can hook the sub up and it will work fine. Since the Eclipse has so much more output than the Sony sub that came with the HT turn the sub channel output down so it matches the level of the rest of the system....It will probably smoke the sub out on the receiver eventually tho, it's only a small IC amp......I have used those type of outputs to drive pairs of car subs in HT installs for years, either thru a LOC and a separate 2 channel home amp or to drive high-level inputs on a plate amp.

If you are looking for a HT amp, Oaudio makes some nice ones....lotsa controls and good power for the $$

I put it in a 1.2 sealed box, the baffle was warped from taking the screws out so I stuffed towels in it. The Sony ported 10" can't even hit the second note on put it on for my city and it distorts past 50/70 volume without bassboost. I can put the Eclipse on 70 with +10dB boost. I want 3 more, I'll get a vid.

It shouldn't hurt the receiver too much it's only a 200oz magnet and the cone moves easily.

Seems OK, listening to it at 60/70 no boost, receiver isn't going crazy, no distortion from the speakers.
