SVC 4 ohm into 6 ohm for HT?
Most add-on HT subs have high-level inputs, the only catch is you are stuck with the Xover frequency that is used to match the passive sub that comes with the system to the rest of the speakers. You can add to the slope and modify the phasing but that's about it.
It's a good time to be getting a new receiver. The HD audio technology is starting to show up at the $400 price point from several different companies......

I have a Sony DA7100ES as my home theater receiver and I love it. Not cheap by any means, but at 175RMS x7ch, it's no joke. Full preamp outs and full HDMI uplinking, total digital control of everything, it's a nice unit. Doesn't fit in the average entertainment center though... I had to remove the back fiberboard off the entertainment center so it would fit behind the glass. Sticks out about 5"s. lol

I want an equalizer with 10+ adjustments from 20-20khz, I never liked the Rock/Jazz defaults, and the speakers that came with it are only tweeters, there's no midbass, the sub is probably tuned at 50hz.

Ya, it's hard to get good package HT "in a box" systems. I've always pieced together. I don't use any of that default Rock/jazz crap either. I try to keep the signal as close to original as possible. As far as EQ's, I wouldn't try to get that in the receiver, buy it as an add on.

Just in case 175rms x 7 isn't enough. Receiver comes with a large price tag though...
Only part that really blows is there isn't a monitor line for an EQ.

Push your luck if you'd like, but I wouldn't. Especially at 60 of 70.
