What exactly is wrong with the driver the thread starter wants to use anyways? Have either you or MR2NR auditioned one? If you have then lets hear why it is a bad choice and if you haven't even heard one then maybe you should stick to threads that you belong in.

df - Couldn't help but notice you have a Brahma in your system as listed in your sig. The Brahma was also a flavour of the month driver. As was the RE XXX and the ED A-Series. Three flavour of the month driver's from three different internet speaker companies and all three have proven to be excellent sounding and performing drivers.

I'm not vouching for the AA driver's in question in any way as I have not heard one. If either of you haven't either what makes your opinion any better?

Actaully I have, would it have been my first choice, nope, not by a long shot. Internet companies don't just sell to every other city except mine. Even then, if this is dad's system, it should be built around his needs which is why I posted for dad to lay out what he is interested in. What if the customer takes the equipment, installs it for dad and dad says, nope, not going to happen, take it out and return it?

Sorry Hard I would have to agree with MR2NR. If my son wanted to choose my system for me and picked a 15" sub I would be very unhappy. I like 10's. I like more classic rock, easy listening, top 40 and not as much bassy tracks. So I do agree with designing the system around the main user.

Read it again. I said nothing about not agreeing with building a system towards the main user. The fact that was made was that you trashed a driver without giving any decent reason other than it is a "trend" sub.

Not everyone shares your set of ears.

Okay, I took this thread the wrong way..

My dad wants SQ, and he would like to stay in a cheap budget. He doesn't need a 15" sub, but it would be nice to have a system that can reach the low's. I don't believe 1 12" will be loud enough. I will also be driving this car.

Much better start dude. A 10" sub can and will play the same deep bass note as a similar in make and series 15", it just cannot play it with the same amplitude. Good bass response is all about the box. Yes one single 12" HO driver in the proper box can and will lay waste to two other drivers of lesser quality.

For dad you need to keep the output levels in check, this means a single driver is more than enough. Next add a good cd player with a level control for the sub so he can adjust it to his needs. Realize right now that the system is for his needs and if it just so happens to work for you as well, so be it.

Good bass response is all about the box, pour your time into the sub box and it will yield above average results. We can teach you how to build a box as well as there are many people on the site that are well versed in box design.

Your dad is looking for something with a highly predictable outcome, in his budget as well. Now we can start to build a system around his requirements.

Thank you for all the replys. I was listening to my friends system last night, with only 1 15" MTX woofer on 300 watts in a civic hatch and I thought it was pretty loud. It's more than I'd need for daily. It's not going to take much for my dad to appreciate a low budget system, he doesn't have experience with audio. I doubt he wants to have crazy bass, he listens to blues and rock mostly on the radio. It would be good if the box was smaller also. Where can I find woofers that are quality but also cheap around Hamilton, and what models do you suggest? I've heard two 10" alpine type-R's ported with 1000W and it sounded good and was loud. Assassins also come in 10", but I have not heard them.
