Hi I am kind of stuck between a 2004 is300 and a altima se-r 2005. The lexus has some propriatry sound system with 8 speakers while the se-r has a bose system with 9 speakers. Which would think would have better sound? I really dont want to replace the head unit cause I know it would clash with the rest of the interior. I want to have subs and get away with the stock oem. Is it duable or should I pitch for a new HU.

I have a 2002 IS300.
Before I changed my HU I had the stock deck with a sub and it sounded like crap I don't think you will be happy with the sound if you just add a sub without changing the HU.
Check out my.is and you can see some aftermarket deck installs and if you go with a double-din they look just as good as the factory decks.

STOCK SUX change that dam stock HU they are all peaces of crap no matter what car your getting. get a nice double din like cheesetoes said and it will look just as good or better. AND it will sound 10million times better. even with stock speakers still in it

 

so if I get the altima with the bose system I should change it? Thought those things had some quality to them.

 

not really lol for the extra 2 3grand that your gonna throw in that upgrade you can get a pretty dam nice system for that price and will sound better.

ive heard the bose sound systems in a few cars and i dont like it.

 

ohh and even if you get bose you can still upgrade the HU but you will need an extra special peace. ( its like the GMCO ) integrates the HU with the bose amp.
