TB Speakers W8 - 740C Reviews

As usual, something free has gotten away from me, but since you guys are cool, I'll try and play along.. So, here goes..
I modelled the driver in Bass Box using the Thiel Small specs from the website (I can't find my speaker measuring gear, it appears to be burried in a pile of boxes still after moving).
Zn = 4
DCR = 3.2
Fs = 28Hz
BL = 13.35TM
Vas = 23L
Qts = 0.30
Qes = 0.30
Qms = 10.53
Xmax - 12mm
Sd = 220 cm2
Bass Boxs High Fidelity Vented Enclosure design suggests an internal volume of 0.229 Cubic feet, tuned at 35 Hz, for an F3 of 53.4 Hz. I'd say my big one cube (approx) is a bit large.. I think you'd all agree... So, now I need a wee little box.. I'll see what my people can whack together...
An f3 of 53 HZ for a vented box, what the heck am I thinking. That's got midbass written all over it. I like my vented enclosure to get deep in the 40's or high 30's at least. Those of you who have build an enclosure for this woofer, what did you build?

I am going to try and find my Dongle for Leap and see what it thinks will happen.
Every enclosure I modelled in BassBox that went low enough for my tastes was inbuildable because the port never fit inside the enclosure..
Chaos.. I'd love to test the RE8's.. Does anyone here in Ontario have them?
I can get an 8W7 from the guys at Radioactive, no problem. They offered it last week anyhow, as I haven't played with much JL gear in the past year or so.

I have two RE8's as well.
Methinks too much work and thinking has warped Dave's brain. You need to relax man lol...Sorry that just makes me laugh that you can't remember where that subwoofer came from

I agree with Dave on alot of points. Although I only paid like $110 for both drivers, they do the job well and Im really happy with them, if your expectign SPL get something larger but if you want a nice cheap sub that wont hurt the pocket book and will play nice and low Give these a try.

Dave - I don't have a TB8 but I would be thinking 0.75cuft tuned to 40 as a reasonable environment for an 8 and something the average user may use.
Hell the RE8 I have is in a 1.5cuft ABC and it loves it

I have to double check the enclosure dimensions, it's pretty dang close to cube I think. It was something I had left over a recent little.. um, test. (snicker, snicker). Anyways, I can cut a new front panel for it and whack in a 4-inch port and see what happens. But every time I have compared sealed to ported, the dynamic response gets worse, so the only place this might help is in efficiency.. I dunno, we'll see... I am taking my laptop on tour this weekend (going up to Sudbury), and I'll run some numbers on the way there and back.
