Good luck indeed getting a 5x7" in that location. You may want to revise your speaker choice.

I was wondering a couple of things

1) All things being equal is a 5x7 'better' than a 5.25 round speaker? The 5x7 actually has a little more power handling(75w vs 55w), and a larger tweeter (1 inch vs. 3/4 inch)...
2) Since my power from the amp will be capping off at 40Wrms, will there be a difference in sound quality anyway?

The Speakers are the Alpine Type S 5x7's and 5.25's.
5.25 round speakers are true blue
5x7 are bad speakers that will play around and come home with diseases

No no, the Jeep TJ's front speakers are 4x6. I want to try and modify it so that I can fit in the 5x7's... I know for a fact the 5.25s fit though, with some cutting and modding, just wasn't sure if I should take the extra time out and make the 5x7's fit...

Still not sure about which speaker is 'better' though... On paper it looks like the 5x7's are slightly better, but without having to see them in person, I'll never know.

Thanks again though!

Again do an ABC comparison between them. I find the only type s speaker I like is the 5x7. All of the type s speakers sound different.

6.5's in the rear and still not sure what to get up front, but leaning more towards the 5x7's now...

The reason I'm going for these Alpine products is because I'm getting a great deal on them.

sorry to say but the noise plus the poor location where to install the speaker is going to mean that sq will be crap so size is a moot point... buy what fits easiest.
and I have some 5x7 Polk momos for sale.. negotioable. see classified for sale
