Thumbs up Thnx Sq Civic

got my relay installed and have my hu, 3 amps and my ,nak crossover off it and everything powers up awesome.. plus the thump when my sub turns on is almost non existant now. Thnx for pushing me to get a relay when others said it might not be necessary.. now I know i'm set for any other remote addons I might need.

here's a pic of the relay installed

and here's one of the new amp / crossover install. Other 2 amps are under the seats.. I will probably end up selling one of the old amps once I figure out which one bridged will drive the sub better.. The 160x2 rms from the clarion was originally gonna go to the sub/subs but I decided to get it on my front stage as I felt 50w x 2 rms is very lackin for me..

holy crap... anyone else have over 150 watts going to their front stage? at first my front stage was runnning off the head unit.. and even then the midbass was pretty decent.. then when I put my 45x2 amp on em the midbass really came alive and was a lot more punchier.. but now with the 160 rms goin to em they sound absolutely friggin amazing.. the bass shakes my doors and the sharpness from the tweeters has actually flattened out.. I can't believe these speakers are rated 30w rms 80 watts peak and are taking this lashing without any signs of distortion..

Power is good. With passives I don`t think I`d run less than 75x2 under any circumstances. Hell, next real install I do will be active with hopefully 100 watts a channel or so.

The coils on your crossovers will eventually melt through, and then the caps will pop....use some caution when over-driving speakers, but they do sound fine while they last.
If you want to check...just touch the coils after 1/2 houtr of playing.
And for God's sake....tape off that relay.....bare terminals scare me.

I'd run some electrical tape around the whole thing, and then screw it back down... I usually put heat shrink on the used and un-used terminals then tape the whole thing up if I'm going to mount it in an area like that, to keep moisture, or as much as possible away from it.

I agree, distortion is only one sign that speakers are being damaged... The silent killer
