thoughts on this amp?

okay well thats good cuz i just bought one today, been spending countless hours this weekend for a budget amp, was gonna get the hifonics bxi 1208 but there over rated people say by 200watts and i read good things about the discuss series, and if you go by the fuse's if i remember it has to 60A so that would be 1200watts if you do the 100watts per 10 amps but thats not really justified.

Anyways, I have seen this amp in the field and it has been solid!

Depends on the efficiency of the amps. Someone can answer as to what the average efficiency for a class D amp is... I don't know. If I recall correctly, MBQ and Hifonics are both under the same parent company now.
If I were in your shoes, I would have made the same decision.
I think you take 120A (for fuses) multiplied by 14.4V = 1728W. In order to make 1000W, it has to be 1000/1728= .58 or 58% efficient in order to take the power it draws and output that 1000W. Which seems low for a class D amp.
Someone will correct me, I hope. There's other factors that need to be taken into consideration.

yeah i think there better then the hifonics they are more expensive anyway(doesnt always mean much) uhm i myself will correct you, according to the maual the whole discuss line from the lowest amp including 4ch and such is all class ab, then the 1500.1 then 2000.1 are D so my amp im getting is a ab as for all the calculations im lost
