Three 12's set up

Three 12's set up
I am currently running two Alpine SWR-1241's off of two Alpine MRP-M350 amps. I am thinking of upgrading to three woofers off three MRP-M350's. However it is proving difficult to find any 1241's so... If I were to use a different woofer, such as the SWR-1242, for the middle of the the three woofers (all sepearate within the box) what effect would this have on the system, and would it sound alright? Thanx in advance for your response.

Identical seperate enclosures for each and it shouldn't pose a problem.
Is it currently ported or sealed? If it's sealed you may wish to try them ported before you drop the cash on more gear as that may be all they need to satisfy you.
And it's just a though but maybe it's time to give some thought into upgrading equipment if the current system isn't loud enough for you. Three subs and three amps is alot of gear and a lot of wiring and space.
Selling what you have and replacing it with gear of more potential may be of benefit to performance/sound/space/cost.

The current set up is pretty loud, but I want more. They are currently in a sealed box, apx. 2ft^3 for both. I would love to upgrade to some Alpine SWR-1542's but the MRP-M350's wouldn't power them too well, and I don't have alot of money to upgrade to new amps. I figured this would be the cheapest way to add more boom, as i can get another m350 for about $150 and another 1241 or 1242 for another 100, or 200 respectively. But you are definately right there is alot of wire; space isn't too much of an issue though, my trunk is pretty big.

Both subs are recieving more than enough power, and the sealed box is quite large (it is actually about 2.6 ft^3 before subwoofer displacement.) how much of a difference will a box change make? One of the reasons I thought adding another 1241 would be good is cause i like the sound of the current ones. (just want more!)

Sorry to bother you, but you seem to be the only one reply to this post. Can you recommend a enclosure volume, the spec sheet that came with the sub only has sealed volumes (0.7-1 ft^3). Also can it be an L port or does it have to be a pole vent? Thanks again for your help!

The SWR-1241's and SWR-1242's are two different subs that don't even compare.
You might want to find something with the same power handling and specs as your SWR-1241's. Personally, I would sell the SWR-1241's and the two amps and replace them with two SWR-1222's and a single 1000-1500 watt rms amp along with a ported box.
