Tired of P.O.S. subs

I'm getting tired of buying p.o.s subs on sale for $50 and having them sounding like crap. Bought a bassworx...sounds like sh%t, ported or sealed. Bought a Rockford P2, blew it in a week...atleast it sounded better when it was working. Bought a Kicker CVR 10"...not nearly powerful enough and wasn't happy with the sound.

I need to save some money and buy something that actually sounds good. Being in Kamloops my options locally are rather limited. We have the typical visions, future shop etc..

If I shop locally my best option would be Alpine subs. I have 500w RMS at my disposal right now. I was thinking of buying a type x 12" Now I know I would be feeding only half it's RMS however at least it would give me the option of upgrading my amp if it is not loud enough.

Or I could get in to a type R which would match my amp right now. I plan on getting one sub in a sealed enclosure. I have experimented with a few subs in ported and I just can't get in to the sound.

Any thoughts between the two subs which would be a better option. I am sick of buying and selling subs cause I am not happy with the output and clarity.

Of those 2 I'd take the Type-R... however there are much better subs to be had if you don't mind ordering it online. (such as the SS'sA already mentioned)

One more thing, Thumpper is an authorized SSA reseller and he's located in Salmon Arm.

hmmm well that gets me thinking. I'll check them out. The only reason I was thinking Alpine was because other than JL, which is insanely priced here there were no local options. But Salmon Arm would be nice and easy to p/u.

JL may be insainly priced for a w6 or w7 but there w1's are reasonably priced lol if I were in your shoes I'd go with a 10" w3 or something the chances are that won't let you down. But that's just me a JL guy.

Does anyone on here have any real world experience with the SSA DCON's. My amp is rated to 500w so it would be overpowering by 200w. I don't even come close to the 1000w RMS of the ICON's or the 1750W RMS of the XCON"s.

I can easily send you up a DD1512 or if your budget allows a DD2512. This of course also depends on the amp that you have. A mans sub that is going to require a new box. I actually might be headed up to Camelips myself in the next little bit, I just bought myself a 69 Barracuda convertable from my cousin who lives there. Of course the dad delivery service runs through your city every once in awhile as well.

As good as type X's are on paper, every single one I've installed has mechanical noise issues. No problem ina trunt..but in a hatch back it's seriously annoying

what's the price on a DD 1512. Granted you are a dealer of DD and not SSA so you would be slanted towards DD by default. How would you compare the two. Since I have no means to audition either speaker I would have to go on word of mouth alone.

Also, what's a DD 1512 cost?
