Thanks for the feedback. Given the options I know have with both SSA and DD I would probably lean one of those ways. Price seems to be a bit more in line as well.

I would also be slanted toward DD since they have had an extremely great reputation for 10+ years. SSA is still very new and I have ZERO experience with the compnay. But many of the companies that appear out of nowhere with speakers spec'ed out very highly usually aren't as great as they are made out to be. This may not be the case..but it is the norm.

Where is Basstoy when we need him, he bought a DD3512 and is presently out annoying all of southern Ontario, northern New York more than likely.

Well it could be the application, for sure. However, I have had the bassworx in multiple sealed boxes or varying sizes and find they distort easily, produce very little bass and have a limited range.

I have also tried the bassworx in my own ported enclosures experimenting with varying degress of tuning. Have also run them in custom boxes from friends rides (spec'd similar to bassworx) and still cannot get in to ported boxes.

I have tried it with other amplifiers and differing wattages. No luck.

I have a contact at visions to get a some better pricing which is why I was initially considering Alpine, however, for the money if I can get either a DD or SSA it would seem a better fit.

Fun fact, Future Shop is also carrying Alpine though I rarely like the purchase anything from them.

I would also recommend the RD audio Classic and the Sundown SA-12, both of which are great subs...and the classic is a tried and true woofer.
