too much power????

ok so i baught a jl 10w6v2 and its perferable area is about the 600 watt range. so heres the question i have a rockford fosgate t5002 and it states on its birth sheet it states that at 2 ohms its going to be running about 800 watts all channels combined. does this mean if i only use one channel (not bridging both) ill be running about 400 ?? also if i get 2 jls will i be able to use the amp to its full potential? ie 2 ohms each running 800 watts for both??

the 10" W6v2 is a Dual voice coil 4ohm 400w rms sub, so how much power does the RF amp put out at 4ohm?

edit: I looked on the rockford fosgate site, only found a P500-2 amp, under the specs says "Rated Power
continuous power 125W x 2 @ 4-Ohms RMS
250W x 2 @ 2-Ohms RMS
500W x 1 @ 4-Ohms bridged RMS "

so I can't see that being enough for the JL sub you got

If you have a dual 4ohm woofer, you are looking at full power at 2 or 8 ohms, not 4.

its the T5002 (discontinued)

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=2&series_id=7&family_id =23&item_id=95241&locale=en_US

and it says 500 watts but on the birth sheet it says 793 watts all channels combined @ 2 ohms so is this fine if i only use one channel

The JL 10w6v2 is a dual 4ohm coiled driver. Wiring options will be 2 or 8ohms.
The T5002 is recommended down to 1ohm stereo/2ohm bridged as a lowest load.

So this is what you're left with: You can wire your sub to a 2ohm load and run the amp bridged and as long as you're not abusing the sub by playing tones with the gains cranked it will be just fine. In other words, set it up correctly and with a responsible user there will be no problems.

To answer your second question; if you add a second identical driver you will not be able to take advantage of your amps full power. You can wire the two drivers to a 4ohm bridged load (the only other option is a 1ohm load and this is too low for a T5002 to run at) but again you will not be getting max power from the amp and IMO isn't going to be enough to run two 10w6v2's to their optimal levels.

I will add to this that you've chosen excellent quality gear though. The 10w6v2 is a fantastic sounding driver and is at complete home in a SQ application. As well the Power Series amp from RF are excellent performers and well made.
