Tried out my "new" ppi 2150am today
I have been running my jbl power series 6.5 comps off a gto 4 channel amp bridged for each set (280 watts per side) so today I finally got to wire up my old gem (though not very pretty cosmetically) it is rated 150 x 2 at 4ohms and 300 x 2 at 2ohms I'm pretty sure that is at 12volts... this amp has no fusing and the only other feature it has is a gain pot... so final conclusion is that it sounds very nice and seems to put out decent midbass. By the looks of its condition it has been in many a system in the last 20 years. I had read ahead of time that the ppi rca inputs are slightly smaller than most, sure enough when I plugged in my rca's they did not fit snug!
I'm still running this amp and I am impressed, it has such a low noise floor compared to my JBL amp. When I turn the volume right down I hear absolutely nothing from my tweeters, with the other amp I can hear static and alt whine (having 2volt preouts I'm assuming is hurting me there)
If only my comps were 2ohm... I have a near mint ax400 as well (not in the car though), I was considering building a box for one of my 12's and running the 2150 bridged for 600watts and bridge the ax400's 4 channels to 2 for my front speakers... one day when I get bored... the 8cu ft box I have in my hatch takes up pretty much all the room I have I was suprised the other day when I managed to fit a jug of oil beside my box
