Trunk Lid

Hey

I drive a 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont88. I have a very nice system overall, and the only thing that isn't good is that my subs pound hard and the trunk lid rattles. I'll be stopped at a red light and pedestrians are looking around to see what the heck the rattling is and its sometimes very embarrassing. Has anyone else had this problem. Or does anyone know how to stop the ugliness?

Much Love

You could use some sound deadener, or change the direction in which your subs are facing for starters

I agree Change the direction of your subs/ports or sound deadnor would be you best bet lots of diffrent bands and type to chose from when I first got in to spl was rear fireing did my truck in a single layer of brown bread no mor rattle and was easy a roll of the stuff a knife and heat gun and some time and your good to make some loud bass with less rattle

B-Quiet Ultimate (AKA Brown Bread) is by far the best bang for the buck. A layer or two of that will almost make the trunk bulletproof!

another trick I have found useful is to take out the locking plate for the trunk latch and use a round file to make the bolt holes larger, then when you replace it back in the car lower it slightly more than it was before, your trunk will close a mil or two lower and make the seal a little tighter... and I'm also a fan of going overkill with some spray on undercoating on the underside of the trunk... also maybe there are a few places where you might consider tightening some sheet metal together with some good old fashion nuts, bolts and washers, one place may be where the back bumper mounts to the frame of the car... I have a 1995 car so its not like working with a brand new car with brand new sheet metal, you have to improvise.. I got another nasty rattle out by air-chiseling out some unwanted rotten sheet metal, that really didn't seem to serve any sort of purpose when it WAS new... jack up that back end and see what kind of rotten treasures you can do away with.. sometimes you've gotta look outside the box for box..
