Tweeter wiring
#1
Quick question:
How do I check my (Orion XTR) tweeter posts for +/- ? I want to ensure correct phasing. They're not labelled and the last owner plastered black goop in them to hold the (now broken) wire in place. Any help appreciated...

With the speaker face down in front of you and the terminals closest to you (6 o'clock position) 99% of the time the right side terminal is positive. Some brands are backwards but it's rare.
Unless someone here has a pair they can look at or you contact Orion, it's hard to tell with a tweety.

I would go with what Dukk said. MLLSA is good if you have the equipment which I would guarantee he doesn't. You could just hook it up and listen to it, then swap the leads and listen to it more, and pick whichever sounds best to you. An RTA can sometimes pick a dropout a the crossover frequency which can show reversed polarity, should be easy enough to find someone with an RTA.
