Question two 15's and two 10's

Hey im new to the forum, my name is john, and im from van city. My setup is as follows, I have a alpine d901 indash head unit. I have two alpine type x components in doors, and two type s coaxials in the trunk, all powered by a alpine mr350 v12 amp. I have 2 alpine type r 4ohm 15" subs in a dual sealed box facing upwards towards the hatch (the box was custom made). Everything is the newest edition of that model. It was very deep and very very loud. But i wanted more bass and louder, so i just bought 2 alpine type x 10" subs with a dual slotted box. I moved around the subs, and faced the 15's towards the back, and faced the 10's upwards. It fits like a glove. I have a old old amp lying around so i decided to use it to get thigns working. It is a rockford 800a2 amp, powering the 2 type x's. Everything works, but it got queiter...... Its still loud, but got quieter . I am wondering what i shuould do......I want really really loud. I have 4 gauge power wire, and 4 gauge ground.

thanks alot
cheers
john

Using different size subs like that is stupid, sorry to say.

What is probably happening is the subs are cancelling each other out. I'd try to sell either the 2 10's or 2 15's and get another 2 of whichever you don't sell...

They are more than likely cancelling each other out. Disconnect the 10's and see if it is magically louder. If it is, reconnect the 10's opposite their previous connection. Meaning reverse the + and - connections. Retest again to see if it is louder or quieter. Next up you need to add a bandpass crossover to limit the response the 15's have from the 10's and the 10's from the balance of the system. If you need more info on this, drop me a PM.

no, its not stupid, its very very smart and works great if you do it right.

You've probably overloaded your alt and or battery, buy once you gert that taken care of, the way to run it is:

15's for subs - 20 to 50 Hz
10's for mis-bass - 50 to 150 hz
high pass your components for everything above 150 hz

that way you get lots of power for low bass AND lots of power for bass.

Yup, you need a good crossover. my alpine does 3-way. lots of crossobers out there. plus you can use a combo of the crossovers in the head unit and the ones in the amps if you're careful.

Good Luck!!
