Well i picked up the cda 9833 today. This thing is like new. The guy that had it replaced it with a sony deck. He said he could never figure out all the features of the alpine. I got it for $50. Pretty happy

I installed this deck and it sounds awesome. Im running oz audio 5.25 in doors. 6.5 jls were already in rear deck so im using them.alpine 4 channel amp. Mrpm500 powering one type r 12 inch. Just wondering if you had any advice on xover settings. The rears seem to overpower the fronts a little

Strange thing to brign up, but with this deck check the switch on the bottom of the deck chassis and make sure it's in front/rear/sub mode, and not 3 way mode.
other than that I'd do 80 for the front and rear (higher in the front if possible). Then just adjust the fade as need be.

I adjusted the xovers and faded to the front. It sounds really good and clean. Only thing is it seems like it could be a little louder. I might have to play with gains. I used bass focus. everything sounds awesome don't get me wrong, it just seems like it should be louder. I cranked the deck and there was no distortion but I mean the rearview mirror isn't even shaking. obviously something not setup right. I am using the rock eq setting as I don't have a friggin clue how to use the one on this hu. I haven't had a system for 25years lol. kids and work and bla bla bla. the last eq I had was an old style 7 band with the vertical sliders lol. anyways im surprised the mrpm500 and 1243dvc arnt bangin harder than they are. then again I don't think the gain is more than half. dumb question. I have the xovers where I like em, can I set the gains like that or do I have to defeat them and set gains first? I set the gains originally with everything off. but im doing it by ear so that could be half the problem.

what kind of enclosure do you have and dont use the gain as a volume **** to get it louder. to set gain the simplest way put your headunit volume at 75% (you can disconnect the other amp to get the high outta the way), play a track with a lot of bass or some test tones and keep turning the gain until you hear distortion, at that point dial is back just a bit and leave it there. Whether the sub shakes the mirror of if its not loud enough that would be due to either the enclosure type/size, xover/eq settings, or you are just expecting too much from it
