I have a JL 500/1 and I would like to double the power to my subwoofer. The sub is dual 2 ohm so I know I could buy a second JL audio 500/1 and wire one amp to each set of voice coils. The amps are NOT bridgable so that is not an option.

Anyone have experience doing this?

Is there any reason not to do it?

Yes it can be done but why buy a second identical amp and have to run double the wiring also? IMO, sell the 500/1 and buy a 1000/1 or similar powered amplifier.

As long as your sub can handle it, go for it!

The loudest vehicle on the planet, the Pioneer truck, uses FOUR amps for each 12" sub. If they can do it, why can't everybody?
