two four ohm subs wired parallel..

I just went outside and wired my 2 4ohm 10's in parallel, and then i bridged the amp. The amp should be seeing 2 ohms now, and the maximum power output is achieved for two subs.

HOWEVER I am not sure if the amp is seeing 2 ohms or 1 ohms!

I read a few articles stating my setup will show the amp 2 ohms.. but one said it will cause it to see 1 ohm.. two 4 ohm SVC subs wired parallel. 4 ohms divided by the number of drivers = 2 ohms.. Right?

I have been reading, and it appears that the bridged channel may only handle 4 ohms... What if I were to keep them parallel but hook them back in to one of the normal channels (not bridged)??

Like right now I have; for 2ohm load on the mono circuit..

What if i just went; for 2ohms on one of the stereo circuits?

Ignore the periods.. only way i could get it to work. What do you figure?

Amp is a Jensen A34XP

I figure you are well on the way to blowing your amp. It is a 2 channel amp rated for only bridged mono output of 4 ohms. With the subs you have the only safe method for maximum output is to wire each sub to each channel of the amp. Ideally you should be after a mono amp designed for output into 2 or 1 ohm.

Both subs at 2 ohm into a single stereo channel puts the same power into the subs as if they were each hooked to a single 4ohm channel. When you half the impedance you usually double the power..on paper anyway. Ergo, absolutely no advantage, infact the amp would be working harder on the one channel, so it's a disadvantage. Like MR2NR said above; get a mono sub amp designed for 2ohm operation. Just so you are aware, you'd have to double power into the 2 subs to get a 3 dB increase in output...that's not a lot in terms of what you can hear.

Just bridge it to the amp at 2 ohms and enjoy it til it goes "poof" then get youself a decent amp that fits ur needs properly . jensen amps imo are paperweights to begin with so i wouldnt lose any sleep over burnin that one up.
In the end u will be much happier with a bettr quality amp and u will thank me later

I initially had my three SVC 10" subs, currently in parallel, hooked up to an amp in bridged and that amp couldn't handle it. Encountered it heating up and shutting off into protect mode.

Amp they are now hooked up to bridged can handle it with no issues at all. I figure the three, it's 0.5 to 1 ohm to my amp currently. I would imagine eventually while bridged, you'll kill the amp slowly.

Ok I see what saying. So right now as it is, the amp is working harder, and there is no noticeable sound difference to my ear lol. Thank-you all for enlightening me on this, really.

I will unhook them as parallel and bridged, and just give them there own channel back.

hah, well as shitty as the A34XP is.. its all I got, and funds aren't available to be buying a new 800w RMS mono 1ohm capable amp :P However it is in the future.

Besides it pounds the 2 10's pretty damn hard. lol
