Type X rate any problems?

No reports of damage around here, but not too many have been bought either since the local shop started carrying JL along side Alpine.
Reliability on the TypeRs has been good. A guy out here is devistating two 12s with 550wrms each (theyre rated at 300 or 350 arent they?) and they love it.

the spider was torn while breaking it in 20hz at 20 volts overnight, the box is about 1 cuft which is on the big side for them but even then it shouldnt have done what it did. i set this stereo up so he couldnt max that amp out and had quite a low x over on it 63hz at 24db. the guy likes alot of metal so maby the subs just didnt like the realy fast bass

I would have to say that the type X is one of the finest made subs on the market today. After seeing a cutaway of that sub, and seeing the new innovative features alpine is using, it blew me away. I have done a few systems with them and have been very impressed with the SQ and output of them.
I hope to prove soon that they have the SPL to match the comparable subs in their class (SQL subs, not SPL monster subs), ie. the infamous W7.

i finally got the chance to hear one today and it sounded pretty decent, power was 500/1 JL amp the Alpine X 12was a 4/4 in a prefab box ...sounded pretty decent and the cosmetics look not bad but very little excursion on the accordian surounds....overall i give it a 8/10 oh ya forgot to say CARBIN FIBER face
