I think that customer who bought the $150 radio would understand the concept of "bulk buying". That is in essence what your trying to say isn't right.
Step away from car audio for a second here. Take Costco or Mega Lo Mart for an example. They buy in bulk so they can sell in bulk to their customers at a reduced rate. This requires a huge amount of buying power and that is the advantage of having a business which has enough cashflow to do it. Not all buisness have that luxury. Is that to say that Costco or Mega Lo Mart is are shady buisnesses? No. They just happen to have buying power over the market.
That said, I have very strong feelings on these "warehouse" type stores, because they essentially were one of the strong reason why we choose to close our family buisness. They simply had more buying power than we did. One thing they could not buy though was the service that we provided in our store. That is somthing that a buisness has to be proud of and stand behind. That is whats going to build and maintain your customer base.
But this is straying away from the purpose of this post, lets try to get back on topic.

next a guy walks in a buys 40 radio's and i charge him $100
now do you think the guy who just payed $150 would be happy and walk into my store again

By the way, when a customer buys 2 subs, a deck, an amp, and some speakers, do you not throw him a better deal than someone who simply buys a set of speakers? It is the same thing, buying more results in more savings. It is a simple fact of business. You can not treat customers equally because some customers are much more valuable than others. Have you never heard of the 80/20 rule? Most often 80% of your overall sales will come from 20% of your customers. (This of course can vary, but the lowest is usually 40% of customers making up 60% of your total sales.) To claim that all customers are equal is VERY naive.

I will buy online authorized or not if the price is right. The simple fact is if I can purchase 2 XXX amps online for the same price as 1 with warranty from a local dealer, I’m buying online. All I feel I'm loosing out on is warranty. What If I get burned? Hey the risk I take on the price drop. I think the manufactures should get rid of the recommended sales price and use a fixed sales price for a product no matter where it’s sold. Then issue a serial code system to authorized dealers that are unique to the shop (Info on where product was sold from/when). Have the shop slap the decal/serial code on products after sale. Enforce authorized shop rules such as:
-No warranty without authorization code.
-No install of any equipment without authorization code (not including product before code system)
-Shops that break this rule get black listed/loose the ability to sell authorized.
-Have Competitors verify these codes to be allowed to compete.
-This alone would make me buy authorized.
-No tech support without codes.
-A bonus such as special info/tech areas on manufactures websites accessed by authorization code.
…
If there were more bonuses to buying from a local shop, I would pay the extra. The prob with my idea is who is actually going to enforce it? You would need support across the industry board. Hey but what do I know I’m only a consumer.

This is how a free market economy works.

i just beleive in stimulating the local economy to which i will see the most back from
and also bb and fs can inflate the cost of goods sold to themselves so that they will pay less taxes here
a practice done alot by the japanese
also big box store existed before fs and bb
as for bigger should get a better price is a very unfair practice
why should they be entitled to a better price than me
its easy to say from the other side of the fence

Oh, and the profit that is generated here goes towards building new stores in canada that pay more taxes and employ more people and helping the local economy.

No, I don't own a shop, but I do manage the car audio portion of one. Bulk buying is VERY common practice in business, and I don't think I have ever met a customer that doesn't understand that. If i paid $150 for a deck, and the next guy paid $100 for 40 of the same deck, I wouldnt feel put out at all. That's just how buying power works!
