Vancouver Flea Market
#1
Was at the main/terminal flea market today.. and for the first time Kept my eyes out for car audio related ****.. and holy crap was there a lot. Saw like every possible head unit (most likely 5/6 of which were stolen).. tons of amps.. (saw names like dragster, xtant, pioneer, kicker, tsunami.. etc.. As well as some killer sub enclosures and some old school jlaudio boxes.. and even a wicked alpine type-r 12" in a sealed box... It can be a bit of a zoo in there at times.. and it smells like *** too.. but if you got the patience and ability to block out foul odour check it out sometime.

How was the dude selling it, on giving you good advice.
I'll give some good advice for free - if it's too good to be true - it probably is stolen !!
Why support this kind of crap - it's stereo stores that suffer from this, and then when you have a problem and want someone to fix it - were do you go - back to the flea market.........probably not. And even if you did - whats the guy gonna do - nothing !!
Buy your sh** from a stereo store that has been around for awhile, has good products, and ones that aren't stolen.
Supporting guys that "probably" stole the sh**, keeps them doing it - if people stop buying from them, they'll probably stop stealing the gear. Maybe it's your car that gets jacked next....??
Just a thought !!

yah of course some of the equipment there is stolen.. but you gotta think a lot of it is just people gettin rid of thier old equipment... don't be so quick to jump to sayin all the equipment there is stolen.. A lot of tables are mom / pop setups and they have found their kids old junk from their room after they moved out and are tryin to get rid of it (as was the case with a few amps I saw there). Just cause you want us to buy new equipment from your store.. j/k

Wasn't suggesting that "everyone" there was a thief, I was reffering to the guys that you know are selling "hot" gear.
And yes, I want people to buy there "new" gear from a store - and not necessarily our store .... any store. Almost a third of the time, we are installing gear that was bought from another store, or a place like the flea market !! We don't discriminate that way - however, it is grief if there is a problem with gear that isn't working, that was not bought from a store. E-bay seems to be pretty good for the most part - but some of the stuff we've seen is brutal.....the money they saved buying on-line, ends up costing as much or sometimes more in the long run.
Again, it wasn't a knock against anyone that buys from the flea market, or even the "honest" vendors.
Grant.

I know you didn't mean to knock anyone except the ******** who steal other peoples stuff.. And yah it can be pretty easy to diferentiate with hot gear and honest gear.. starting right from the attitude of the dealer and how easy it is to get them to part with said item. And btw you guys do a great job there at speakercity. I work just down the road and come by to check things out occasionaly. Had a really good chat with a few of your guys and I believe you as well about speaker imaging.. I believe it was you who turned me off off puttin rear fill into my car and just goin with a single sub.. a decision I have never been happier with...
