Voltage Issue

Ok so ive had my stereo for a year and a half and the first year was full of nothing but problems with the powering system under the hood so i finally upgraded the alternator(130A) and put in two 950 cold cranking amp deep cycle batteries under the hood (its a diesel so it needs two) and i put in a 1 farad cap. My two amps are not that big so between the two i believe they draw about 80-90 amps. After i did this i never had a problem again until now when my fan short circuited and i took it to the chevy dealership and had it fixed. Even when my fan didnt work my voltage meter still read 14.4v but after i got my truck back fixed my voltage meter in my truck is almost in the red (below 12v on my truck) but the amp voltage is still at 13.7. My question is did the garage that fixed my truck wreck something or could they have or is my voltage gauge in my truck just screwed. All i know is my parents (im 18) are off the freaking chain and about 15 seconds away from selling my truck from all the issues ive had with the stereo and truck and i really want to keep it. So is there something wrong with the powering system or is it the guage i guess is my big question here.

Whip out a DMM and test the batteries right under the hood. Try with the car off then on. Normal voltage on should be 13.8v - 14.75v, and off should be like 12v - 13v.
