Hi, i've seen it many times where you can install external screens in the back of seats for cheap. I came across a screen that had a touch screen monitor. I was wondering how this would be connected and function? my head unit only has 1 set of preamp outputs, is this what is used for the external screen? What If i have subs and an amp also. Thanks alot for input.

 

Screens are run using the video output on a headunit with a monitor built in. Your pre amp output is for audio only.

Running multiple pieces off one line requires splitters, usually if you want to run multiple amps and secondary monitors, a person would buy a headunit with 3 audio outs for front/rear/sub and an A/V(audiovisual) out, many even have 5.1 surround for a centre channel install.

So basically, you need a new deck to run a external monitor,sorry

 

Unless the screen has a disc player in it. I've seen that.
