hey first of all i need to deside between..

2 10" Alpine Type R subs 500 watts RMS each with Dual Voice Coil 2, 2 ohms

1 15" Alpine Type R sub 2000watts (750rms watts) DVC ..

then i need to find out what would the best amp be for them around $200
help..

 

Do you mean you are looking for 750wrms to 1000wrms amp for $200.00, or just the best amp you can get for $200.00?

If you are looking for a 1000wrms amp for that money, I do not think it will happen soon. $200.00 would probably get you an amplifier between 200 and 300 watts if you are lucky.

A quick way to check the amp is add up the fuses in it. If a manufacturer claims 1000wrms, but the amp only has ONE 25amp fuse, well, they are full of crap.

It is not perfect, and only a GUIDELINE, but generally 1amp per fuse equals 10 watt of power. So 500 wrms amp might have 2 25 amp fuses.

 

im am looking for the best amp for my moneys worth to power either of those subs

I can put some links up for you to read later, but quickly, RMS is the most accepted way of rating an amps true power. Stands for Root Mean Square btw, but you will notice some speakers and amps say 1600 watts peak!!, then you look closer and see the amp is really rated for maybe 400 wrms.

If you buy a sub capable of "handling" 500 WATTS RMS (wrms) then your amplifier should be about the same. A little extra power is OK too as long as you dont drive the sub into distortion.

If you put a 200 wrms amp on a 500 wrms sub, the sub will still work, but NOWHERE near as good as it would if you had a higher powered amp. You would only be giving it 40% of the power it was designed to handle.

Rockford Fosgate 800.2 Amp, would that mean that it has 800wrms times two? like it could power two subs?
