what amp would be best for..?
For subs, you are looking for a CLASS D MONOBLOCK, SINGLE CHANNEL.
When you look online, or at the store, that is what you are interested in.
You would be looking for an amp that is 1000 wrms total if you wanted to give each sub 500 wrms.
Be careful with your ohms as well. I've learned that a lot of the monoblocks are wired in parallel internally (single channel amp, but two sub connections) so lets say your subs are 2ohm subs. The amp will knock that down to 1ohm if you use both the connections on the amp.
Now if your new amp is not designed to run at 1ohm it will probably go into protection mode (shut off).
If the amp is say 800 wrms at 2ohms, then you could hook up 2 subs that are 4ohm each, the amp would knock it down to 2, and you would be fine.
If you have the subwoofers to do it, going 1ohm is probably the best bet, especially at the power level you want.
Unfortunately, i can pretty much promise you it wont be $200.00.

It is a 2 channel amp so it can power 2 subs, yes.
However do not get confused. A ONE channel sub amp can also power 2 or more subs and they are designed to power subwoofers.
I can answer more questions except when it comes to what make / model amp to get. Many, many people have much more experience here than I do.
Used can be good. Sometimes people buy things (this hobby is like an addiction anyway) and dont use them for a few years even. SO you get NIB (New In Box) item, maybe few years old, working perfectly for good price.
For me, I couldnt care less if something is last years model or whatever. Its not like companies decide to make crap in 2006, then good stuff in 2007, then crap in 2008.
If its NIB then I'm good with it. I would also suggest you buy from someone on here. I have only made 2 purchases so far, but both people were on time, delivered the goods exactly as they said, and were friendly.
