What Are The Best Component Speakers?
I heart the JL ones are super good. What else is good, also pricewise too. Im not looking to spend tons but I dont want cheap speakers. I'll prolly just use two rear speakers. Also, what amp is best to power component speakers.

try to be a little more specific, for starters what size are u looking for? u say u dont want to spend a lot, some people on this forum would argue that 1000 dolars isnt a lot to spend on components, what price range are u comfortable with?

well is the JL component speaker line good cause I can get hooked up with $599 speakers for like $300 from my buddy but I was just wondering what other brands are good. 6.5 is what i'm looking for, size wise.

the infinity kappa series is a very good all-around speaker and are generally cheap for the quality. although i have never heard their components, i have a set of plates and some 6/9s and i am very happy with them. see if u can find a store that has a good selection of demo brands so u can personaly hear the differance.

You will get opinions on this thread, and you need to evaluate each suggestion. What is your preferences in music reproduction/ speakers?... we dont know... you may not know.... my suggestion is to go to as many car audio shops as you can to hear comps from various brands, I would even make a trip out of town to hear a specific set. Using your ears and your preferences (with the additional brands brought up here) then select the speakers for you. I would recommend using a favorite CD and listen to 1 or 2 songs on each speaker for your testing.
You will will find brands that exceed your expectations from many sources (pioneer, Memphis, Oz, JL, MB Quart, Focal, JBL, Diamond, Morel, Dynaudio ... insert brand name here) but the reason there are dozens of brands is that speaker preference differs from person to person.
The BEST may be more or less than your budget so... enjoy!

The "best" component speakers that I have ever heard are probably the Focal Utopia Be Kit No.6.
They are also something like $7000 per pair.
So you see why you need to be more specific
PG RSD6.5c are really good for under $100
In the $150 range there are so many choices I'm not even going to start
$250 starts getting you into some of the nicer CDT and entry level Focal stuff. The Hertz HSK165s can be had in this range too, and are quite nice.
Personally, I am running active, and can get my entire front stage for around $250 and it should rival $400-500 component sets, so I haven't done much research with the really high end products.

Very important to figure out:
1. metal vs silk dome tweeters(metal is usually brighter)
2. on vs off axis( I like metal more off-axis and in general)
3. what type of music you listen to(some music sounds better with silk and vice versa)
4. RMS requirements
5. sensitivity due to size of amp used
These should illiminate a few options, and take you closer to what you want.
