I think as long as it's OFC (oxygen free copper) and it looks like there's more wire than plastic around it, it should fine. I bought my 4awg cable from a local electronics shop. the name is Pro Audio or something like that and it works just fine powering 2 amps about 800wrms total).

Welding wire from any industrial supplier such as Acklands. Much cheaper then any "name brand".
