What brand of Wiring do you use?
#21
I actually run stinger and the welding cable. Stinger is twice the price and the welding cable is more flexible. But, the stinger looks alot better and the covering is a lot safer because it doesn't cut as easily and it is alot thicker.
That is my 2/5 of a nickle, 1/5 of a dime, or 1/50 of a dollar.

So im guessin' that the brand doesnt really matter all that much. Personally I cant seem to choose between a 4 gauge phoenix gold which is like 60USD shipped or a 4 gauge streetwires (70USD shipped) or a 2 gauge streetwires (80USD shipped)
Anyone wanna help me in my choice.
thanks...

-1/0 Welding wire for main power
-PG PRO for power and grounds from PG distro distro block
-PG PRO for remote line
-PG Zeropoint Reference for speaker cable
-PG Zeropoint PRO Reference for interconnects
*Note: I bought most of my PG wiring 6+ yrs ago when I was working in an audio shop and it has never given me any problems which is why it is still being used today.

If a 4g wire is all he needs there's zero sense in telling him he should go through the hassle of trying to fit 0g wire through his car.

Whoa! Sorry! In spirit of what everyone else says on every other page in the forum, I recommend running 0 gauge to a distro block then running the adequate gauge (4 gauge) from the distro to your amp. That way if you ever want to further upgrade, you meet the power requirements. There now I justified what I said.
Now the way I really feel, go with whatever gauge you require for the cheapest you can find it.
To hardwrkr, relax. No need to single a guy out and try to make a big deal out of nothing.

No big deal made guy. If you're going to recommend he use 0g let him know why (like in your second post). Otherwise he might see that many others have used larger cable and feel he should drop the extra cash on a bigger guage when it may be unnecesary.
I'm not trying to single you out but when the poster asks about 4g and you tell him to run 0g with no reason given what's the guy supposed to think?

hey haha thanks for the pointers and yeah i would go for the 0 gauge but i dont think im gonna need it...nor do i think my car battery is gonna provide enough power for it.
my amp is running around 200rms x 2 channels (at 4 ohm resistance) and its just powering dual 12" RF P2's in a ported box. based on this i was guessing i would need a 4 gauge or maybe even a 2 gauge at most...
what you think man?

As long as your run isn't obscenely long a 4g kit will be fine with the amperage needed for ~1000rms of power.
If you think you may run more than 1000rms of power or if you have a long power run a 2g kit would be recommended otherwise if it's a smaller system a 4g kit is plenty.
