What do you look for in a Car Audio company?
So a couple of people have asked me this in the last little while so we are going to start a poll. Please take the time to vote as I'm sure future companies or vendors wonder what customers look for. You may make more then one choice.
Cheers
Thanks and Have a safe and Happy New Year

I think you are missing the single most important thing people look for when buying product.
Hype.
No seriously.
And I chose value since most of the benefits anyways are in the installation and not the actual product.
And really, although cosmetics dont have many votes, I dont know of a lot of people who buy ugly products. This is especially true when purchased new. I am a sucker for a handsome looking driver.

A lot of people buy whats available. I find alpine, JL and pioneer everywhere. But when I tell people of smaller companies which can provide a superior product and simliar or lower cost, the general population may look down on it due to the them being unfamiliar.

I think the most important is value but everything depends on the knowledge of the person whom is buying...
The average "newbie" whom doesn't know what alpine is besides hearing it in a song is going to go for hype as someone said. Basically they are gonna come in the store with a list of brands their friends said are good and combine that with whatever the store says and it will determine what they buy.
Then you have the person who does some research and knows a little bit about car audio whom is going to go for value keyed with warranty and hype. They will most likely search their main brands they like still staying within the main brands, listen and decide what they think sounds best for their budget.
Lastly you have the people whom know car audio and they will most likely be looking at value. They will take their budget and find the best possible performance/build quality that they can get in that budget. They will also be looking at everything not just the alpine/kicker/jbl's.
These aren't all groups, just generalizations...
As far as cosmetics, to the average person they don't want something that's insane ugly but they know they can cover it with a grill or that the speaker wont be seen thus in the end it's really not an issue. Mainly people with show cars will be the ones concerned about cosmetics.
Well thats my take on it... Basically what it comes down to for most companies/stores is what group are you gonna to mainly target?
