What the F*ck is goin on....help!!!!!!

Heres the deal...having some issues with my setup, ill list as much info as possible..any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. 2000 pontiac grand prix, 2 kinetik 2400s- 1 shuriken bt120 all 0 gauge and 3 350 amp fuses between battery under the hood, battery to battery and battery to amp... american bass 400.1 2 orion hcca 12.4 12's. 5 cube box tuned to 32 htz... now dont laugh at this point..sony headunit. american bass rca wires...been playing with this system for weeks with the subs hooked up in parallel and recently the amp cuts out as soon as the bass hits at medium and high volume..the protect light comes on then goes off soon as the bass quits...i unhook the rcas and the protect light goes out, makes sense the amp is not getting a signal from the headunit, to rule out the amp i hooked up a brand new still in the box kicker zx1500.1 and it does the same thing...the coils are clean as hell on the subs.no burns or signs of a burnt coil at all...ive had a lot of woofers on this amp and know it puts out some power, from a kicker solo x 18 to 2 re xxx 12's, 4 american bass xfls,2 american bass vfl 15's, fi btls audio q hdc3s...and never had this problem.. is it the subwoofers causing the amp to go into protect, the crappy wal mart headunit i installed in a pinch, or somethin to do with my wiring (battery and power wires and grounds) like i said i was beatin this system for 3 weeks and all of a sudden it does the described problem..any help, or suggestions much appreciated.

Those subs a dual 4 ohm coils, correct?
If they're measuring .4-.5 each, I'd say theu're cooked. (even if they were dual 2 ohm coils but measure .4-.5 I'd be concerned)
Can you try a different/pair of subs instead of the a different amp?
