I was just throwing together a quick box today and used some Elmer's wood glue and it wasn't holding at all. It would seem to hold, but when you went to put another piece on things would fall apart and the glue would be stuck to one piece, almost dried in a matter of minutes.

I've never had this problem using the glue before, but is there any glue I can use without having to bother with screws? If there is, does it need to sit for a while like silicone so it doesn't damage the surround?

when building sub enclosures, I usually use 22 guage finishing nails, and either wood glue, or Loctite construction adheasive. I wouldn't trust just straight wood glue alone.

Either use drywall screws, I prefer the coarse threaded flavor, or if you don't have access to the air tools, then use normal finishing nails, otherwise you're asking for problems down the road.

regards, Mark

glued, screwed and caulked...that's the way to go! make sure you pre-drill the screw holes or you may split the mdf and don't rush the job. patience produces proper projects otherwise known as the 4Ps.

Tried the Elmer's again last night and still the same results this morning, even with clamps. It was a fresh bottle of glue so I don't know why it's not holding like it should.

Got myself some Bulldog PL9000 so hopefully that holds it with the odd nail here and there. I know I shouldn't do a rush job but I only plan on using the box for maybe 2 weeks until I get one built properly.
