What happened to my sub?

In my old Accord I had a 4 channel amp powering a set of alpine type X comps in the front, as well as my RE SE 12" sub in a ported box. This set-up absolutely slammed, and I rarely had the subwoofer levels turned past 1 or 2 because the bass was so powerful.

Now I have a new car and I installed the amp and it is just powering the sub alone. The gain is turned up almost to the max, yet the sub hits so softly that you can't even tell it's on at subwoofer level 0. The sound is also sloppy.

Why is the sub so much weaker now? I have it in a sealed box now rather than the old ported one, and I know this will probably make a difference, but it feels so weak. I feel like my excellent sub is being wasted. What happened to the gobs of bass that I felt with my old set up?

Help me

I have no idea. Is there a specific way it should be wired? I'm gonna go back and check with them in a day or two.

If its as you described:
“yet the sub hits so softly that you can't even tell it's on at subwoofer level 0. The sound is also sloppy”

then there is a fault especially if it was professionally done
ported vs sealed there will be a difference but not that much
2 difference cars there will be a difference too but also not that much.

How much does the sub move put a test disk in and do a frequency sweep and see if not just the music that’s not in the resonance range
