What have i done?

I was working on the wiring in my truck yesterday, mainly the wiring of my speakers. While i was in there i decided to clean up the wiring behind my dash aswell. I took out my xm reciver and antenna aswell while i was back there. When i finished up, i turned on the truck and my subs wernt playing. Kinda weird since i wasnt doing anything to them. Checked and both my fuses were blown in the amp itself, but the fuse from the battery was fine. So i replace the fuses, right as i connect the power again, only one fuse blows , a pop and sizzle, and some smoke comin from inside amp. Obvi blown, but im trying to figure out why? Both my amps have the same ground and remote turn on... but different power wires... And my speaker amp is having no troubles at all. The wierd part is that i didnt touch the power wires for amps at all, and before i did the rest of the stuff, the subs were both working fine.

What did i do??

it may just be a coincidence that your amp blew while you were working on other wiring

It sounds to me like the speaker wires are grounded out somewhere.

Rca i could say maybe.... but the speakers that i was working on arent connected to that amp. My speaker amp is working fine, and thats what i was re wiring. The sub section wasnt touched! Or could that still somehow do that to my other amp?

Was the remote turn on connected and if so was it active (12V)? If the amp was not supposed to be on then there is a problem in the power supply most likely. Probably a mosfet popped. You can measure the impedance of the power terminal to the ground terminal with an ohm meter to check. A good fuse must be installed before measuring. Let us know what you find.

The problem i see with it being the remote turn on, is both amps share the remote turn on connection, and the speaker amp is fine. The only thing that i could possibly see being wrong is the power wire somewhere along its path, even though the fuse is fine. So i have it at coincidence that this is hapening because i didnt even work on the side of the car that the power is run on, or that amp.

I was not implying that it was the remote turn on. I wanted to know if the amp was active when you applied power. I'm sure it is a coincidence that this amp is giving you trouble, though I'm sure it's not the power wire.
