What should i do about this??

i have a separate amp for both my subs and my speakers. the amp for my speakers is 45x4 at 4 ohms. my sub amp is 1000 watts at 2 ohms. im selling my sub amp and subs to buy a jl 10w7 with their 500/1 amp. would it be worth it to buy the HD 900/5 to get some more power to my speakers? this amp will produce 500 watts for the sub, and will also dish out 75x4 watts for the speakers. Or would it be better to just buy a brand new amp specifically for the speakers? tell me what you guys think. Thanks.

first thing to find out is what kind of wattage will your speakers take?
Dont want to upgrade the amp just to blow your speakers. Otherwise yes they will get louder and possibly clearer as well.

Without knowing what vehicle, what speakers in the doors or how you have your Xovers and gains set it makes it a little harder to help you out.....however....I'm curious what you're hoping to accomplish with the upgrade.....the 900/5 would be a great upgrade for your mids and highs but a substantial drop for the bottom end. The disparity in power levels you have now is probably the source of any dissatisfaction with the sound that you're hearing....If they can handle some serious power I would try bridging the 4channel on your front speakers to see how they sound before spending money on any new equipment. If it sounds better I would use the $$ on a better 4 channel before I changed anything else......

the jl w7 will be pretty loud with the jl 500/1 by itself.. quite a bit louder than my g5's with the 1000 watt alpine amp.. i'm just worried about if the speaker part of the amp will take power away from the subwoofer channel.. each speaker will handle 150 watts max

Short answer is no.....due to the design of the amp.....
