What type of reasonably priced battery to get for my system?

I know this question has been around for ages, but hoping to find out what the best affordable battery is.... I found this one crappy tire... worth getting? Looking to spend no more than $150 if at all possible.

Canadian Tire - Motomaster Eliminator Automotive Battery

875 CCA and 10yr warranty

Thanks...

Sort of sneaky of them. The housing looks similar to the spiral core one, but the spiral core is almost double the $86.00 price. I know they probably use the same housing to keep manufacturing costs down, but still.

Ya... wonder why it's so much cheaper, not being a spiral.... So what do you figure John; worth it?

For the money and warranty, I would say you cant go wrong really. I mean, the primary purpose is to start the damn car, especially in the Winter. I've had more Motomaster batteries over the years than i can remember, even have one in my tractor .

875 is nothing to sneeze at. I always ditch the factory which is usually good quality, but low CCA for a higher one first thing. Just get the size and terminal location correct and youre good to go.

Put the receipt and warranty info in a plastic sandwich bag and ductape it to the back side of the battery. Even if youre not old and feeble like some of us, at least you wont clean out your glovebox and toss it out by mistake.

Cheers!

John

Good tips John. Ya I like the fact I'd have less trouble starting the vehicle... Not fun trying to fire up the car in -30C temps haha.

you may want to look into Stinger Batteries. They have a glass mat technology similar to the yellow tops that are made for car audio. I've got a season and a half on mine and it works great. It has no trouble at all in the cold and if I manage to leave my lights on all night it will most often still start the car even in the cold. I got mine on staff cause I work for FS the distributer is out here in ontario and their called Gentec int. FS head office is in BC so maybe there's a gentec out there to. I got mine for about $120
